Metro Bank to Teach Thousands of Children the Importance of Saving

Deadline to register your classroom for ‘National Teach Children to Save Day’ visits: March 13

HARRISBURG, Pa. (February 16, 2015) — Metro Bank will celebrate National Teach Children to Save Day the week of April 24 by visiting thousands of local kindergarten and first grade students to offer free lessons on the importance of saving.

Metro Bank team members who are trained instructors of Metro Money Sense, the Bank’s free financial education program, will provide lessons about the importance of saving, as well as the benefits of saving money in a bank and creating a plan to save. Children will apply these concepts through games and other hands-on activities during the lessons.

“We are thrilled to continue our commitment to financial education through the National Teach Children to Save campaign,” said Metro Bank Chairman, President and CEO Gary Nalbandian. “In 2014, we reached more than 2,500 students in nearly 30 schools by teaching 111 classes during this extraordinary week. Instructors from Metro Bank are available to visit schools within the Bank’s footprint of Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon and York counties.
