The Cash for College Scholarship recognizes and rewards three graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to their local communities through volunteer service. Graduating seniors who reside within the bank’s service area of Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon and York counties are eligible. The Cash for College Scholarship is part of Metro Bank’s overall commitment to bettering our community through the Metro Cares program. On National Teach Children to Save Day, Metro Money Sense instructors teach thousands of local kindergarten and first grade students the importance of saving. At Metro Bank we expand the celebration by teaching children our Intro to Money and Savings lesson throughout the week!

Executive Reading Week, our kickoff to the Reading Rocks! program, is an opportunity to have one of our executives visit a classroom, read a book about financial education and donate the book to the school or classroom’s library. Metro Bank’s Reading Rocks! Summer Reading Challenge encourages kids to keep their reading skills sharp during the summer and also helps them earn while they learn! Metro Bank will pay $10 to children who read 10 books and complete a Reading Rocks! brochure. Please see a Reading Rocks! brochure for complete eligibility details. Metro Bank participates annually in Get Smart About Credit Day by visiting local junior and senior high school classrooms. Through our Getting Smart About Credit lesson, teens will learn the difference between simple and compound interest, what a FICO score is and how to use credit responsibly.
